Area] - 건축면적 : 113.28m² [Building Area] - 연면적 : 735.94m² [Total Floor Area] - 사진촬영 : 배지훈 작가 Jihun Bae [Photo] 소로경담: 작은 골목길에 감각적 풍경을 이루는 담(건축물)이라는 의미. 논현동은 강남 도심에서도 밀도 높은 도시조직으로 활발한 상업 활동이 일어나는 지역이다. 신사동, 청담동, 역삼동, 반포동 등과 인접해 있으며, 골목길을 따라 다양한 스케일의 건축물들이 혼재되어 있다. 이 지역은 도시적 정체성으로 강한 상업성을 지니고 있으며, 강남구와 서초구의 경계 인근에 있으면서 경제 활동이 활발히 일어나는 지역이기에 유동인구도 많고, 잘 설계된 건축물들도 다수 볼 수 있는 지역이기도 하다. 대지는 학동역 대로변 북서쪽의 바로 이면에 위치해있다. 대로변에서도 보이는 위치이기에 도심 속 유입과 회피가 반복되는 골목의 성격을 지니고 있다. 주변에도 이미 신축 건축물들이 공사를 있었다. 이러한 지역은 건축주로부터 상업성과 수익성이 제일 우선한 화두로 던져진다. 이런 전제를 만족하면서도 지금 당장의 경제적 욕구 충족만이 아닌, 시간이 흘러도 건축물 자체로서 와보고 싶고, 거닐만한 도시의 한 장면을 연출하게 하는 것 또한 건축사로서 해야 할 일이기도 하다. 경제적인 측면에서도, 도시-사회적 측면에서도 어떤 설계안을 제안할지, 그 고민은 건축사의 몫이다. 논현동의 도시적 맥락과 상업적 요구를 반영하여 설계는 시작이 됐고, 인근 건축물들과 거리 풍경에서 디자인의 모티브를 찾아내려 했다. 이 동네에서 부족한 도시풍경은 무엇일지, 부족한 도시풍경을 보완하면서 경쟁력을 갖을 수 있을지, 건축주의 관점에서 균형을 잡는 방법은 무엇일지. 이러한 여러 요소에 대한 스터디가 초기 설계단계에서 주요한 요소들이었다. 대로변에서의 도시풍경도 눈에 띄지만, 좁은 골목에서의 작은 풍경들에서는 우리가 지나가면서 느낄 수 있는 골목만의 작은 감성들이 있다. 그 골목들의 정서적 친근함, 편안함은 작은 건축물들에서 시작된다. 뜨믄뜨믄 놓인 주변 조경들과 어울릴 수 있는 기하는 어떻게 만들어가야 할까에 대한 고민 역시 작업의 연장선상에 있다. 이러한 설계 의도는 디자인 스터디 과정에서 이런저런 적용을 해보면서 나온 대안들 중 라운드 형태의 모서리를 갖는 건축디자인으로 귀결되었고, 그러한 디자인을 구현하기 위한 재료로 스토(sto)를 적용하게 되었다. 내부공간은 건축법규를 준수하면서 자연스레 위로 올라갈수록 작아지는 형태를 띄게 되었고, 올라갈수록 좁아지지만 내부의 소수인원이 주로 사용할 수 있게 사적인 공간으로 구성하였다. 옥상에 이르러서는 탁트인 하늘을 바라볼 수 있다. 작지만, 소규모 사교모임도 가능한 아기자기할만큼 작은 공간이고, 개방감이 크면서도, 작은 공간이 가져다주는 안락함도 느낄 수 있는 장소이다. 도시의 풍경과, 골목의 풍경, 그리고, 비좁은 도심안에서의 개방감과 안락함이 이 작은 대지에서도 경험할 수 있게 하고자 했다. 이를 이루기 위한 작은 방법들, 계단실 바닥레벨에 설치된 낮은 창호에서 들어오는 햇살, 은은한 조명, 외부 마감재의 재질, 패턴, 색상, 1층 계단실의 목재마감 난간등이 그것이다. 이 건축물이 건축주의 요구를 충족시키면서도, 도시를 2023.09- 건축용도 : 공공시설 버스정류장 Public Facility Bus Station 우리가 크게 의식하지 않지만 길, 도로, 보행로는 공공의 장소다. 지금까지 길은 장소와 장소를 잇는 도시의 선적인 요소로 그 역할을 해왔으나, 이제 이동의 통로라는 선적인 개념에서 벗어나 행위가 일어나는 공간으로 발전해야한다. 공공의 대지인 보행로에 현재 제주도가 고민하는 여러 교통수단 문제와 도시가로 형성에 대한 적극적인 해결책을 찾고자 한다. 선적인 개념에 공간의 요소가 더해진 보행로를 계획하여, 기존의 버스정류장을 활용한 공공의 공간으로서의 Urban Arcade를 제안한다. 버스를 기다리며, 잠시 일을 할 수 있는 Urban Lounge, 날씨의 제약에서 벗어나 시원하거나 따뜻한 공간에 머무를 수 &nbsp; 현혜경 (건축사사무소 더현)(예비) 제주 자치지원센터는 제주시 연동 주거지역에 위치해 보안이 요구되는 몰센터 시설과 주민들이 자유롭게 출입하면서도 독립적인 공간이 필요한 센터 사무공간, 그리고 누구나 부담 없이 접근 가능한 주민편의시설의 공존이라는 문제조건을 조화롭게 풀고자 했습니다. 기존의 프로그램 단위의 분할 방식에서 벗어나, Private, Common-use, Public이라는 서로 다른 기능을 가진 세 개의 Mass는 상호 적절한 간격을 둠으로써 각각의 필요한 공간을 확보하면서도 유기적으로 연결합니다. Common-Use Mass는 양 옆의 상반되는 두 기능 사이에서 매개체 역할을 하며, 시설들을 조화롭게 공존시키며 새로운 업무시설이 요구하는 유연함을 갖추도록 하였습니다. 분할된 Mass의 사잇공간에는 도시의 녹지축과 연결되어 점진적으로 올라간ㄴ 녹지공간을 통해 인근의 자연요소를 건축물 내부로 끌어들여 이용자 모두가 자연정원 안에서 편안한 휴식을 취할 수 공공의 도시와 사적 소유물 사이의 틈을 메울 수 있는, 서로의 지향점이 충돌하지 않고, 양립할 수 있는 결과를 찾아보고자 했습니다. 결론적으로, 건축물의 윤곽을 살짝 구부려 도시의 여백(공원)을 품어앉는 방식을 택했습니다.Approach. 고요한 입면과 수용의 제스처.역삼동 은행나무 공원은 상부 도로보다 지대가 낮아 짙은 그늘을 품고 있습니다. 처음 대지를 방문했을 때, 정돈이 안되어 보이는 주변 환경 속에서, 공원은 고립된 섬처럼 인기척이 거의 없었습니다. 건축물의 리모델링 디자인을 고민하면서 공원을 비롯해 가라앉아 있는 분위기의 동네에 새로운 분위기를 만들어 보고자 했습니다. 강남은 자본효율이 너무나도 중요하게 고려되는 지역입니다. 그러나, 그런 관점의 고효율 직선 건축물을 세우는 대신 곡면을 적용해 파사드 자체가 공원을 향한 열린 경계로 작동하게 함으로써, 오히려 더욱 강남에서나 볼 수 있는 건축물이라는 인식을 줄 수 있다는 전제도 있었습니다.Method. 궤적의 연장과 컨텍스트의 직조.매끄러운 입면을 따라 시선을 옮기면, 곡면의 흐름은 옥상(루프탑)까지 부드럽게 이어집니다. 비록 예산의 한계로 공원 전체를 환하게 비추려던 정면 조명계획은 실현되지 못했으나, 건축물이 뻗어낸 시각적 궤적은 공원과 여전히 단단한 관계를 맺고 있습니다. 노후 건축물의 오래된 뼈대를 남긴 채 표피와 성능을 개선하는 과정은 단순한 기능적 보수를 넘어섭니다. 그것은 소통이 잘 안되었던 안과 밖, 사적 공간과 공공의 컨텍스트를 다시 엮어내는 직조(Weaving)의 과정이기도 합니다.Intention. 사유지의 윤리와 건축적 환대.자본의 논리 안에서 건축물은 철저히 개별적인 사유 재산입니다. 리모델링을 거쳐 말끔해진 공간은 건축주의 현실적 바람대로 단일 기업의 사옥으로 온전히 임대되었습니다. 주변과의 관계를 깊이 고찰한 건축물이 빠른 임차계약으로 이어졌고, 결국 건축주의 사익에도 더욱 부합한 결과를 얻게 했습니다.한편으로, 이 건축물은 공원이 제공하는 개방감과 조망의 혜택을 일방적으로 받기만 하지 않습니다. 공원을 향해 구부린 곡선의 입면은 공원을 포함한 내 주변으로 열려있는 일종의 '건축적 환대'입니다. 사적 공간이 공원이라는 공공의 여백(Void)에 기대어 있다면, 그 건축물의 표정 또한 주변의 정주 환경에 시각적 온기로 응답이 필요하다는 설계의도를 담았습니다.Conclusion. 관계.이러한 설계의도가 거창한 도시 담론을 Jihun Bae [Photo] The design was inspired by the adjacent Dongjabok, which was not well-known and visited by few people despite being a designated cultural heritage. The initial plan for the 40-pyeong plot of land was a rental house with a residential space for the owner on the top floor. However, after considering the site's relationship with its surroundings, the plan was revised to create a cultural facility that could serve as a mutually beneficial addition to Dongjabok. The lower floors became exhibition spaces, while the upper floor would remain a residential space with views of the Jeju sea and Mt. Halla. 동자복 문화재와 접해있는 40평 규모의 대지. 내리막길로 가다보면 나오는 김만덕할망 기념관과 아라리오 뮤지엄. 건축주의 처음 계획은 임대주택과 본인을 위한 맨윗층의 주거공간이었습니다. 대지와 주변과의 관계를 이해해가는 과정에서 이 곳이 더 의미있는 장소가 되기 위한 용도를 생각해보게 되었고, 결론은 문화시설을 계획해보는 것이었습니다. 본인들의 주거층은 그대로 두고, 아래층에 갤러리 공간을 배치함으로써, 바로 접해있는 동자복과 공간적으로 서로 도움이 되는 결과를 내자는 방안이었습니다. 대지면적은 40평 정도로 작지만, 이 대지가 가지고 있는 인문, 문화, 자연적 요소를 함축하는 건축물이 되기를 바라며 디자인을 시작하게 되었습니다. The exterior resembles Dongjabok, with a black color and a round shape. The surface of the building is covered with small mosaic tiles made of basalt material, while the interior has a white background to highlight the exhibited artworks, which are mostly monochrome photographs. The gallery and residential spaces offer views of the Jeju sea beyond the white backgrounds, while the attic provides a view of the sky through a slanted skylight. Our approach for the design was to create harmony between the materials and plans of Dongjabok and the photographic art space, providing a space for enjoying both natural scenery and cultural experiences. 건축물은 동자복을 닮았습니다. 동자복처럼 검은색을 띄고 있고, 동자복의 둥글둥글한 모습을 닮았습니다. 현무암 재질의 동자복 표면은 3센티미터의 지름을 갖는 둥근 모자이크 타일로 건축물에 적용하였습니다. 내부는 전시되는 작품들이 돋보이도록 기본적으로는 흰바탕을 가지고 있습니다. 전시되는 작품들도 주로 흑백사진들입니다. 동자복과 사진예술공간(주로 흑백)에 어떤 재료와 계획이 어울리는 지에 대한 결론입니다. 갤러리 공간에서도 주거공간에서도 흰색바탕 너머로 제주의 바다가 보이게 계획하였습니다. 주거층에서는 위층에 위치한만큼 한라산의 풍경도 보입니다. 다락에서는 경사천창을 통해 제주의 하늘을 바라볼 수 있습니다. 자연경관과 문화적 향유를 누릴 수 있는 공간이 될 수 있게 계획하였습니다. By providing visitors with a place to rest and enjoy the adjacent gallery's facilities could encourage more people to visit Dongjabok. However, despite changing the architectural plan to include the gallery helping the public, the department concluded that it was difficult to allow for spatial interaction between public and private sectors. Although it did not turn into reality, the Jeju Gallery House still provides a space for enjoying both natural scenery and cultural experiences. 사실 동자복은 문화재로 지정되어 있었으나, 찾아오는 이가 거의 없는 장소였습니다. 갤러리 공간이 생기면, 좀 더 많은 사람들이 동자복 공간을 찾아볼 수밖에 되지 않을까 기대했습니다. 그 시작점으로, 해당관청 문화재 담당부서와 경계에 놓인 담장을 허물고, 쉴 공간이 없는 동자복 방문자는 갤러리에서 짧은 휴식을 취할 수 있게 하는 등의&nbsp; 방법을 논의해보았으나, 공적 영역과 사적영역의 공간적 교류를 허가하기는 어렵다는 것이 담당부서의 결론이었습니다. 민간에서 수익사업을 바로 인접한 문화재를 고려해서 공공에 도움이 되는 방향으로 건축계획을 바꾸었음에도, 해당관청의 불가 결정은 아쉬움으로 남습니다. 아무런 편의시설이 없는 동자복에 왔다가 새로운 옆집 갤러리에서 가볍게 차한잔 하며, 갤러리도 보고, 동자복 잔디마당에서 쉼을 가질 수 있는 시간들을 만들 수 있는데 하는 아쉬움입니다. The route to the top residential area starts from the first-floor parking area and the outer stair surrounds the building. The internal route also surrounds the building, creating a continuous connection between the inside and outside. The residential floor consists of two floors, with the second floor serving as a guest house for visitors. The stairs leading up to the residential floor provide a gradual transition from views of the sky to views of the sea, while the terrace offers views of the Jeju sea and Mt. Halla. 최상층의 주거영역으로 가는 동선은 1층 주차공간에서부터 이어지며, 건축물을 감싸는 형태입니다. 내부 동선역시 건축물을 감싸는 형태로 내외부 동선이 연속적으로 이어지게 하였습니다. 2층의 갤러리 입구를 지나 주거층으로 올라가는 계단의 끝에는 하늘을 바라볼 수 있는 창이 있습니다.&nbsp; 계단을 오르며, 제주의 하늘은 점점 낮아지고, 계단의 끝에 다다라서는 바다풍경이 펼쳐져 보입니다. 그 바다를 보고, 주거영역으로 들어가면, 거실의 넓은 전창을 통해 또 한번 제주의 바다풍경을 보게 됩니다. 경사지에 있는 곳이라 층수에 비해 더 높은 곳에서 바라보는 느낌을 받게 됩니다. 주거층은 2개층으로 되어 있고, 2층은 손님들을 위한 게스트 하우스 역할을 하게 계획되었습니다. 제주를 찾는 지인들이 2층으로 Unlike other beaches with rough waves due to the nature of windy Jeju, Villecot had a calm atmosphere with few waves as it was facing the sea in the form of a bay. It was a work to unravel the idea of what kind of gesture the Villecot should make at the border between the unfamiliar Jeju sea, where there must be a strong wave but not, and Jeju island, which has 360 oreum volcanic cones. Siksanbong Peak and Ilchulbong Peak spreading out toward the sea, and the Mt.Halla panorama on the other side of the sea gave us a clue on what kind of space should be spread here. By forming three circular masses extracted from geographical features of Jeju, we integrated topography and architecture. 이 장소는 성산일출봉으로 가는 길목에 한켠으로 빠져있는 대지입니다. 처음 방문할 때 이곳에서 보이는 일출봉쪽으로의 풍경에 놀랐고, 대지 바로 앞 바다에서 노니는 오리들의 유유자적한 모습에 두번 놀랐습니다. 바람이 많아 파도가 거친 제주의 다른 해변과 달리 “만” 형태의 바다에 접해 있기에 파도가 거의 없이 잔잔했고, 대지와 그 주변의 분위기는 여유, 그 자체였습니다. 건축주 역시 건축가에게 자유롭게 계획하여 제안해 줄 것을 요청했습니다. 거센 파도가 있어야 하는데, 그렇지 않은 낯선 제주 바다와 360여개의 오름이 있는 제주도라는 육지의 경계에서 어떤 제스처를 취해야 하는지에 대한 생각을 풀어내야 하는 작업이었습니다. 바다쪽으로 펼쳐진 식산봉과 일출봉 그리고 바다 반대편으로 펼쳐진 한라산 전경은 물성만 다른뿐, 이 곳에 어떤 공간이 펼쳐져야 하는지에 대한 형태적 실마리를 제공하는 충분조건들이었습니다. - Composition of the Space : Ankeori, Bakkeori&nbsp; l &nbsp;공간의 구성 : 안커리 바커리 The client was going to live with their parents, but they needed an independent living space for each generation. Mainly inspired by Jeju’s traditional residential spaces, ankeori and bakkeori, Villecot conceived the notion of having separated residential spaces independently rather than all family members living together in a single house. Ankeori and bakkeori is Jeju’s dialect of ‘anchae’ which means the main building and ‘bakkatchae’ which means the outbuilding. Since the proposed site for the Villecot was surrounded by beautiful nature, the main design required Jeju’s scenery to permeate throughout the space. By making family room and living room as bakkeori, everyone could view the Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. And independent space for each generation became ankeori. The intended entry sequence for residence flows from windy stairs connecting 1st and 2nd floor, to the living room where the three generations gather and the view of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak spreads. Through this living room, each generation can enter their own space and go out to the rooftop through each external stair. The commercial area was also arranged in consideration of spatial experience starting from the circular building, looking at Ilchulbong through the arch frame, passing through the garden, and finally approaching the sea lower than the ground to provide emotional rest. The façade had to consider Jeju’s rainy and windy climate. Because the land benefits from nature, rather than planning to actively reveal the composition or identity of the space to the outside, we prioritized harmony with the surroundings. As a finishing material, basalt brick, a representative stone of Jeju, was used. It is resistant to pollution and its color also represents the design uniformity with black color of window frames. 제주의 주거공간에서 보이는 특징 중 하나가 안커리, 바커리 개념인데, 이는 한 대지 안에서 각각 독채로 있는 안쪽 집과 바깥쪽 집 정도로 이해하면 될 것입니다. 여러 세대가 모여 살던 시기에 한채에 모든 가족구성원이 같이 지내기 보다 하나의 대지에 별도의 주거공간을 세대별로 독립적으로 갖게 하는 형태가 안커리, 바커리 개념입니다. 건축주는 부모와 함께 살기로 결정했지만, 본인 가족의 독립된 생활공간을 요청하였고, 이를 해결하기 위해 한 건축물 안에서 세 개의 원형공간을 조합해 부모님 공간과 건축주 가족의 공간 그리고, 그 중간에&nbsp; 건축주의 자녀까지 삼대가 함께 하는 공간을 구성하게 되었습니다. 건축주의 요구사항 중 또 중요한 조건이 모든 공간에서 성산일출봉이 보여야 한다는 것이었는데, 이는 평면계획과 입면계획의 중요한 앵커포인트가 되었습니다. 전통적인 안커리 바커리 개념은 말그대로 안쪽과 바깥쪽의 의미이지만, 성산일출봉이라는 전망조건이 더해지면서, 각 세대의 주생활공간은 모두 안커리가 되었고, 삼대가 모이는 공간은 바커리가 되었습니다. 1층의 돌음계단을 통해 2층의 주거공간으로 올라오면, 삼대가 모이는 거실공간에 접하게 되고, 이 거실공간을 통해 각자의 생활공간으로 진입을 하게 됩니다. 2층의 이 두 공간은 다시 각각의 옥상으로 외부계단을 통해 나갈 수 있고, 가장 상층인 3층에는 주방과 다이닝 공간 그리고 2층의 사적 옥상공간과 시각적으로 연계되는 테라스 공간이 위치합니다. 안커리 바커리 개념에서 확인할 수 있듯, 각자의 독립성이 보장되면서도, 서로가 적절히 어울릴 수 있는 공간으로 계획하였습니다. 1층 영역은 건축주가 경제활동을 영위하기 위해 카페를 계획했었고, 이 카페 역시 성산일출봉으로 펼쳐져 있는 전망과 정원공간을 품을 수 있게 계획했습니다. 원형의 건축물에서 나와 아치형태의 프레임을 통해 일출봉을 바라보며 정원을 지나고, 대지보다 조금 낮은 잔잔한 바다로 접근하는, 10여 미터가 채 안되는 거리에서 경험되는 이 공간의 연속적 장면(sequence)은 이 대지에서만 누릴 수 있는 작은 정서적 휴식이기에 건축물의 배치 역시 그러한 공간을 충분히 확보하는 방향으로 계획되었습니다. 단독주택 Residence- 사진촬영 : 송유섭 작가 Yousub Song [Photo] 이 곳에 있었던 집은 건축주의 아버지가 결혼을 하여 출가할 때 건축주의 할아버지가 지어준 집이었습니다. 건축주에게는 오랜 세월의 기억들이 스며들어 있는 집입니다. 할아버지가 지어주시고, 자신이 자라온 그 터에 이제는 춥고, 기울어져 가는 그 집을 허물고,새로운 집을 지어, 자녀와 손녀, 손자들의 또다른 기억들이 그 터, 그 집에 스며들기를 바라는 작은 집입니다.&nbsp; 아주 작은 주택이지만, 지금의 사회가 보여주는 경제적 번영과 문화적 깊이, 그리고 이 터에 녹아들어있는 역사, 사회적 역사이든, 개인의 역사이든, 그 시간이 지금에까지 이르렀음을 보여주고자 했습니다. 이전 집에 있었던 툇마루의 흔적을 다시 남겨보고자 하였고, 기존 장독대와 주택의 동선을 유지하여, 현재도 유효한 일상의 익숙함도 유지하고자 했습니다. 지붕재와 외벽마감재는 동일한 재료로 사용하여, 이전 주택과의 차별성과 현재의 진보한 건축기술들을 작은 부분이나마 디테일로서 담아보고자 했습니다. 그리고 무엇보다, 모든 공간에 햇볕이 들게 하고자 계획했습니다. 살아가고, 향유할 수 있는 장소가 되도록, 모든
